Comfort & safety in the BMW 2 Series Coupé.

Sometimes it’s more fun to swim against the tide – as the BMW 2 Series Coupé flawlessly demonstrates. Those who forge new paths also appreciate travelling down safely illuminated roads. And oncoming traffic can rest assured of a dazzle-free journey. Servotronic keeps the steering behaviour optimal at all times and numerous further details make even unconventional days easier – regardless of where life takes you.

Thanks to their sophisticated ability to adapt, adaptive headlights with variable city and highway light distribution, including cornering lights and adjustable Bi-Xenon headlights, ensure the optimal illumination of the road ahead. The driver can see deep into the bend ahead as soon as they turn the steering wheel, especially during night-time driving. To improve short-range visibility, the cornering lights are automatically activated as soon as the indicator is switched on or the steering wheel is turned – even when the vehicle is at a standstill. Adaptive headlights ensure optimum road illumination in every driving situation, significantly increasing active safety.

The High-Beam Assistant relieves the driver at night by automatically switching between high and low beam depending on the presence of vehicles in front or oncoming traffic. The lights are also automatically dimmed when street lighting is sufficient. A camera located near the rear-view mirror detects the headlight surrounds of other vehicles at a distance of up to 1,000 metres. When the High-Beam Assistant is activated and an oncoming vehicle approaches or the rear lights of a vehicle in front are detected, the system automatically switches between high and low beam.

Optimal power steering support.

Enjoy optimal power steering support in every driving situation with Servotronic. It adjusts the steering power to suit the current speed and delivers a direct and precise steering response at high speeds. It also offers supreme comfort by minimizing the physical effort required when steering, as well as maximizing agility when parking, manoeuvring, or navigating narrow or twisting roads.

Superior precision.

A control unit uses the electronic speed measurements to determine the necessary power steering support for every driving situation. An electronically controlled valve in the steering hydraulics allows fine power steering adjustments to be made that are far more precise than with conventional servoassisted power steering systems which rely on motor RPM for orientation.

Less physical effort.

This system means that less physical effort is necessary for steering at lower speeds. As speed increases, servo-power is progressively decreased in order to ensure direct contact with the road and ensure directional stability.

The BMW 2 Series Coupé rises to the occasion on the inside. The storage compartments in the doors even have enough room for one-litre bottles. Cup holders in the centre console and the rear centre armrest ensure drinks are securely stowed. The rear-seat backrests can be folded down in a 40:20:40 split for the transportation of larger and bulkier objects. And the storage compartment package enhances the BMW 2 Series Coupé with helpful details like a floor net, bag holders and lashing eyes in the luggage compartment. This ensures safety and functionality.

Innovative and easy to operate – the Comfort Access system makes it possible to open the car doors and start the engine without having to use the car key. The key, which may be in a trouser pocket or briefcase, is automatically recognised upon approaching the car. Once the door has been automatically unlocked, the driver can get in and start the engine by pressing the Start/Stop button.  The Comfort Access system relies on key authentication to ensure its security.
