BMW ConnectedDrive Driver Assistance systems in the BMW 7 Series.

Numerous innovative technologies support you in various ways and guarantee the highest level of comfort and safety. So you can focus on one of the important things in life – carefree driving pleasure.

The Navigation system Professional takes the lead in every respect: it provides more and does so faster and more attractively, gives you an information lead – and helps you to reduce fuel consumption through special routes and individual tips for a highly efficient driving style. The standard system commands respect with its quick-start function, enhanced route calculation and high-contrast 10.2” colour display. In the city, the high-resolution 3D map navigation offers simple guidance using distinctive buildings. With BMW Assist and Real-Time Traffic Information you can deliberately avoid congestion. Next objective: reducing fuel consumption. In ECO PRO Mode, the Route-ahead assistant uses the navigation data to calculate when you should take your foot
from the accelerator in order to adapt your speed in a timely and efficient manner. ECO PRO Route goes further still: on the basis of your personal driving style, the traffic situation and the journey profile, it calculates an optimum fuel-efficient alternative route. In this way, you save fuel without losing much time.

Trust is good, but security is better. With the intelligently connected camera systems from BMW ConnectedDrive you always keep a clear view even in unclear situations. Comfort with foresight for more safety. Surround View displays the area around the vehicle on both sides and at the rear. The result is seen as a projection of the BMW 7 Series Sedan from above in the Control Display. Side View cameras contained in this special equipment additionally provide better visibility to the left and right in unclear locations such as in garages or driveways. The Rear View camera – a standard feature in the BMW 760Li – shows what is behind the vehicle in detail. Its wide-angle lens depicts every obstacle in fine detail on the Control Display in colour and from the optimum perspective.

Systematic self-assuredness: the optional Park Assistant automatically recognises parking spaces and takes over the steering during parking manoeuvres. The driver assists the operation by accelerating or braking, keeping head and eyes free for the most important task.
The fine art of delegation: to make sure you can devote your undivided attention to the traffic, ultrasonic sensors in the side indicators seek a parking space for you at speeds of up to 35 km/h. Blue arrows indicate if a suitable parking space is vacant either on the left or the right side of the road. Once you have opted for a particular spot, the Assistant takes control of the steering. All you have to do is select the right gear and operate the accelerator and brake. All instructions appear on the Control Display together with the Park Distance Control and the image from the Rear View camera. Using intelligent technology, BMW ConnectedDrive thus links the BMW 7 Series Sedan with the outside world – for even more comfort and safety in your daily life.

Eyes directed ahead and full concentration on what is important: the full-colour BMW Head-Up Display projects the current speed and navigation instructions conveniently onto the windscreen, directly into the driver’s field of vision.
If required, the current speed limit and status of the Active Cruise Control can be displayed. Warning advice from the assistance systems can also be shown in the optional BMW Head-Up Display . These include the Collision Warning or the pedestrian recognition in BMW Night Vision .
All information is readily legible even under difficult lighting conditions. The height of the display is adjustable so that you can always have it precisely in front of your eyes. This allows you to register any important information during the journey faster. It provides pleasant relief and greater comfort for the eyes as well, since they no longer have to permanently switch between close-up and distance vision.

A revolution leading to even more safety at night: BMW Night Vision detects pedestrians in the dark even from a long distance. With thermal imaging activated, the driver receives additional warnings on the Control Display as well as in the multifunctional instrument display or in the BMW Head-Up Display (both optional). In the event of an acute hazard, an acoustic warning sounds as well, and the brakes switch to maximum stand-by mode. In combination with the Collision Warning, it is even possible to trigger a braking intervention automatically. BMW Night Vision is an innovation from BMW ConnectedDrive.

The Driving Assistant Plus feature includes not only Approach Warning and Lane Departure Warning, but also Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function. This provides assistance when driving on motorways in both critical and stable traffic situations. This option is only available in conjunction with the Navigation System Professional.
The Approach Warning responds in stages. Depending on whether a vehicle ahead brakes suddenly or a stationary object is detected, the reaction ranges from a visual signal to active braking and even a complete standstill. Should the car begin to change lanes unintentionally, the Lane Departure Warning quickly provides a warning by means of vibrations in the steering wheel.
The Active Cruise Control maintains a constant selected speed between 30 km/h and 210 km/h or automatically adjusts to conform with the cars driving in front if the distance control is activated. The Stop&Go function even controls speed down to a standstill, accelerating again easily when the gas pedal is pressed, for example in dense moving traffic.
